Dear Pastor and Brethren:
A Difficult Month
November has been a difficult month for me because of cataract eye surgery. My doctor said that my complications made me one person in one hundred patients with whom he has had to deal. I had asked other friends who had undergone cataract surgery what it was like, and it seemed to be a relatively simple procedure. For me the procedure was relatively simple but after the procedure, I couldn’t see correctly. The focal distance between my two eyes was so great that it made me dizzy and the anesthesia that the surgeon gave me caused an adverse reaction that made me so sick that I couldn’t bear to move without having severe nausea. Finally after two operations and much awkwardness and nausea, I am now adjusting to my new eyesight, but it consumed a whole month of time to get to this point of visual clarity without dizziness.
A Return Visitor
Sis. Connie Gaches’ sister, Charlotte Renfrow, has visited our Sunday morning service twice this month.
She had visited once during the last two years but has decided to visit again with us. Hopefully, she will continue to come and hear the Word of the Lord. Because of my poor eyesight, I had asked Bro. Dick Gaches to preach a series of messages on the subject, “The Priesthood of the Believer.” These have been good messages, clear and succinct, and beneficial to the listener. Pray with us that the Holy Spirit of God might deal with us all through the preached Word and especially with our visitor.
Latino Ministry
Although our muustry among the Latinos was somewhat curtailed because of my eyesight complications, we did have contact with Noe and his wife, Yolanda, Nathaniel, Daniel, Laureano, Guajardo, Jose Gomez, and Jose David and his girlfriend, Mariana. Please pray for the Lord’s blessing upon this complicated ministry.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is our favorite holiday, so at the invitation of Nathan and Amber and our grandchildren, we spent Thanksgiving day and the following night at their house. Although it was a cold and rainy day ( we always need rain in our part of Oklahoma) we enjoyed turkey and trimmings along with cherry pie and energetic conversation. We hope that all of you had a blessed Thanksgiving as well, and Roxanne and I extend our gratitude to our sponsoring church and all of our supporting churches together!
By His grace and in loving gratitude,
