Dear Pastor and Brethren:

 Celebrating July Fourth

              On the last Sunday of this month, the patriotic hymn that I wrote in 2007 was sung by the church choir where the pianist is my elder sister, Phyllis Diehl. I insert its words here for your enjoyment and edification.

 Oh, America!

 God in His matchless sovereignty, wisdom, power, and grace,

Creates men and governments and puts them in their place;

Unwittingly, they work His will, His plans they do obey;

Omniscient in His power, oh, none His hand can stay.

 America the Beautiful was formed by His own hand;

He alone created it, and by Him we should stand;

Great principles of righteousness were preached from God’s own Word,

And formed a sure foundation when through the land were heard.

 For sin alone can harm us, following that path;

Foes about alarm us, bringing us God’s wrath;

Yes, history can show us how God worked in the past,

We should humbly seek His face and do His will at last.

 Oh, America, turn back to the Lord;

Oh, America, trust His Holy Word;

Oh, America, turn back to the Lord.
