Introduction:

Number in descending order the most hated doctrines of Bible Christianity – ____ Deity of Christ; ____ Eternal Judgment; ____ Sovereign Election; ____Heaven; ____ Salvation by Grace; ____ Human Depravity.

Any Bible doctrine might be hated by unbelievers because those people are – (smarter than God; blinded by Satan; fear the truth; would like to custom-design their own religion). All but “smarter than God”

The doctrine of Hell is hated by the natural man because it is – (contrary to logic; objectionable to our kind natures; fearful if true; magnifies the God of the Bible). It is logical, magnifies God and is fearful

The Biblical doctrine of hell is (over preached; already sufficiently understood by the natural man; a secondary, unimportant doctrine; too frightening to consider again). None of these

The word “hell” is found more than (a dozen; two dozen; fifty; a thousand) times in the Bible. 54 times

It is found in (1 & 5; 2 & 6; 6 & 5; 10 & 7) Old Testament and New Testament books. 10 & 7

The Old Testament word translated “hell” is (hell, sheol, hades; gehenna). Sheol

“Sheol” is translated into what three English words (hell; heck; grave; pit). Hell, grave, pit

The fact that “sheol” is not always translated “hell” proves that (it should never be translated “hell;” it is never speaking of something eternal; it is a multifaceted word; we shouldn’t study it). Multifaceted

The most common New Testament word translated “hell” is (hell, sheol, hades; gehenna). Gehenna

The second most common New Testament for “hell” is (hell, sheol, hades; gehenna). Hades

The Nature of hell.

Hell is (a product of some Presbyterian’s vivid imagination; Satan’s wrath; Jehovah’s will; Hollywood’s screen-writer’s guild). Creation of God

Hell is (a literal place; a state of mind; a bad dream; a form of mental illness). Literal place

“Fear not them which kill the _____________, but are not able to kill the __________: but rather fear him which is able to ______________________ both soul and body ______ ______________.” Mt 10:28

There is a tiny preposition in that verse which clearly shows us that hell is a (a literal place; a state of mind; a bad dream; a form of mental illness) – what is that preposition? In

The wicked “shall be punished with _________________ destruction from the presence of the _________, and from the glory of his power.” II Thess. 1

Ordinarily when something is “destroyed” it is (gone, dissolved, glorified, preserved). Gone, destroyed

But how is this special destruction? It is (managed by God; eternal; allegorical; imaginary). Unending

When Matthew. 25 records: “Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” the speaker and the preparer is (Satan; the devil; Christ; Michael). Christ

There is nothing on earth and no way to properly visualize hell, because (we are so feeble-minded; God is the creator of hell; the Bible doesn’t tell us enough; God is infinitely greater than we are). All of these

The first chapter of Revelation describes Christ as bearing what two keys (the front door and back; the urim and thummim; gold and silver; death and hell). Death and hell

Which is not a real variety of fire (camp; forrest; forest; hell). Forrest

Christ speaks about “hell fire” because (hell is such a cold place; how else is hell food supposed to be cooked?; He was prophesying a 21st century type of weapon; fire is a major part of hell). A part of hell

“If thine eye ___________ thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is ____________ for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell _______________.” Matthew 18:9

“And if thy foot ___________ thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into _______, than having two feet to be cast into __________, into the ____________ that never shall be _____________.” Mrk 9:45

“For a ___________ is kindled in mine anger, and shall ____________ unto the lowest _______, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on _________ the foundations of the mountains.” De 32:22

Do all fires have the same (intensity; fuel; results; color)? No, but they are still all fires

Moses once saw a fire (in an Egyptian brick factory; in an Egyptian crematorium; in the kitchen after a grease spill; in the Midian desert). Midian

What was unique about this fire was that it (was blue in color; didn’t consume the bush on which it burned; it contained a roasted pig; the Lord was warming His hands over it). Bush was not consumed

If the Lord ordained that an earthly fire would not consume its “fuel,” it would be (nothing at all; impossible; highly unlikely; difficult) for God to ordain a fire to judge the wicked and those people not be consumed.

The Bible describes the fires of God’s judgment as (hot; temporary; eternal; stoked by the devil). Eternal

The Bible appears to describe hell as (earthly; temporary; eternal; allegorical). Temporary

Because (the wicked will be burned up; God will eventually get tired of all that judgment; God’s holiness will eventually be satisfied; hell will be cast into the Lake of Fire). Rev. 20:14 Death & Hell shall be cast into

This proves that God’s judgment for sin will (end; be satisfied, cool; be completed). Hell may continueMatt. 25:says that the wicked “shall go away into _____________________ punishment: but the righteous into life ____________________.” Matt 25:46

Apparently this punishment will take place in (Hell and the Lake of Fire; Walla Walla; Alcatraz; Sing Sing).

“But he that shall ________________ against the Holy Ghost hath ____________ forgiveness, but is in danger of ___________________ damnation.” Mrk 3:29

“Damnation” refers to (a form of swearing which mother forbids us to do; condemnation; hydro-electric power production; irrigation). Condemnation

Apparently this damnation will take place in (Alcatraz; Sing Sing Hell and the Lake of Fire; Walla Walla;).

God’s judgment for sin is eternal which means that it will last as long as (hell; God; Heaven; sin). God

“The devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of ________ and ___________, where the beast & the false prophet are, & shall be _______________day & night for ___________ & ___________ .” Rev 20:10

“And the smoke of their ___________________ ascendeth up for _______________& _________________: & they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image…. ” Rev 14:11

When people “rest,” they might (relax; nap; sleep; play squash). Relax, nap, sleep

In hell and then in the lake of fire there will be (total consciousness; excruciating pain; perhaps total recall; water to cool tormented tongues). All of these

On earth, in order to divert guilty consciences, people turn to (religion; drugs and alcohol; additional sins; sports). All of these

In hell, people being judged for their sin and their rejection of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ, will turn to (religion; drugs and alcohol; additional sins; sports) for relief. None of these will be available

Human beings often picture themselves as the center of the universe, but that is far from the reality. Even in regards to hell and the lake of fire, it’s not the wicked human who will be the primary focus of that place, rather than position belongs to (Lucifer; Satan; the Devil; the god of this world). Satan

In speaking about Lucifer Isaiah says, “Yet ___________ shalt be brought down to ___________, to the sides of the pit.” Isa 14:15

“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye ______________, into everlasting _______________, prepared for the ______________ and his ______________.” Mt 25:41

The Bible abounds with references to hell and the lake of fire.

“The __________________ shall be turned into hell, & all the nations that _________________ God.” Ps 9:17

“The way of ____________ is above to the wise, that he may depart from __________ beneath.” Pr 15:24

“Whosoever is _____________ with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the _____________: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of _____________ _______________.” Mt 5:22

“Ye serpents, ye generation of _____________, how can ye escape the ______________ of _________?”

“And the sea gave up the ____________ which were in it; and ______________ and ____________ delivered up the ___________ which were in them: and they were _______________ every man according to their works. And ______________ and ____________ were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Rev. 20:13-14

“Fear not them which ______________ the _______________, but are not able to kill the ___________: but rather fear him which is able to _____________ both soul and body in ________________.” Mt 10:28
