Dear Pastor and Brethren,
Articles of Faith.
I have returned to preaching messages on our Articles of Faith which I had been using for Wednesday evening services when the pandemic shut us down. Those articles are a blessing to us because of their clarity and conciseness. By using the Scripture verses that accompany each article it is easily explained and summarized. I am currently preaching from Article 17, The Church, and am approaching the end of the article. In the near future I will begin preaching on Article 18, The Ordinances, Lord willing. I am sure that I am preaching on things that the majority of the congregation has not heard in their entirety.
The Latino Outreach
Because of more translators working in the court system, I have only two Spanish names to relate to you this month. Editiel is Mexican minor of 1 7 years of age who was detained for driving under the influence of alcohol. The results of his breathalyzer test was .22, almost three times the legal limit of .08. He is being treated somewhat lightly by the legal system and only has 10 hours of community service to do with us. Then Perpetuo was arrested for assault and battery of his wife in the presence of a minor child. We did not get much of a chance to work with him because he was almost immediately detained by ICE and prepared for deportation.
Bro. Gaches tells us that the Spanish tract that Roxanne and I prepared for him is being asked for by the Latinos in the jail on Sunday afternoons during the jail services conducted there. We are happy to hear that good news and pray that the Lord might use the printed word to reach many with the Gospel.
Attendance Numbers and Personal Note
Our attendance numbers for the month of May are as follows: 9, 7, 10, and 5. Roxanne and I had the joy of meeting with my sister Lois Denny and her husband for about two hours while on their way to Arkansas as ABA missionaries to the Navajo Indians in New Mexico. It is a difficult work because so many of the Native Americans live off the government which in tum creates that mentality to church organization and activity.
